Time to Update The Midwest Regional Rail Initiative
We have had a very productive year at the High Speed Rail Association. New and improved stations are being built across the Midwest, CrossRail Chicago is gaining traction and intercity passenger rail was included in a long-term infrastructure bill for the first time ever.
The stage is set for a bigger and better 2017. We are asking our supporters to help us raise $90,000 before the end of the year so we can take advantage of upcoming opportunities.
A new opportunity is quickly approaching. The Federal Railroad Administration is starting to update the Midwest Regional Rail Initiative.
The new plan should include faster trip times, more frequent departures and greater coverage in order to build political momentum. The planning process will provide a fantastic opportunity to reengage local leaders throughout the Midwest to advocate for federal funding.

The best way to see how fast, frequent and dependable trains transform communities is to ride them and see the cities they serve.
Over the years, members of the Midwest High Speed Rail Association have traveled to see high-speed rail and transit systems in Europe and Asia. Each of the trips has been insightful and motivating. We have also made important business connections along the way.
Hopefully, you can join us on the next tour: Italy in November of 2018. The main tour begins in Rome on November 3 and ends in Rome on November 11. Rick Harnish will be your tour leader.
