A Discussion of the Chicago Sustainable Transportation Platform with Steven Vance
Join Young Professionals in Transportation-Chicago and the Midwest High Speed Rail Association's Young Professionals Board for a conversation with Steven Vance about the 2019 Chicago Sustainable Transportation Platform for Chicago mayoral candidates, including the role of our CrossRail Chicago plan.
With a wide-open mayoral race on the horizon, Vance and fellow advocates Lynda Lopez and Yonah Freemark have developed a set of transportation policies prioritizing equity, sustainability, and livability for Chicagoans. Among the platform’s proposals are several actions we have argued are essential to bring fast, frequent, and reliable trains to the Midwest.
In addition to cofounding the transportation news and advocacy site Streetsblog Chicago, Vance is the founder and CEO of Chicago Cityscape, which harnesses the City’s open real estate data to track neighborhood, property, and construction data for communities and businesses. He also consults on zoning, urban planning, and real estate technology for MAP Strategies. A central figure in the Chicago land use and transportation policy space, Vance graduated from the University of Illinois at Chicago's College of Urban Planning and Public Administration, and previously worked for both the Chicago Department of Transportation and the Active Transportation Alliance.
This event is FREE and open to the public.
