Throughout the Midwest, elected leaders are advocating for new service to their cities and towns. Collectively, their proposals would put:
- 80% of Midwesterners within 25 miles of a railroad station.
- 50% of Midwesterners served by high-speed rail.
- More than 43 million people within 3 hours of Chicago.
This is remarkably similar to the Obama administration’s vision for the country. The project will revolutionize how we travel, and will create more than 1.1 million jobs across the region.
But it will only happen if our elected leaders join with the federal government to make high-speed rail a shared priority and coordinate development.
