In 2009, the House of Representatives voted on a floor amendment that would cut the FY2010 budget for high speed rail from $4 billion to $1 billion. Thankfully, the amendment failed, and most of the House voted to spend $4 billion on high speed rail. Please look up your Representative and see whether he or she voted to support high speed rail by voting NO on the amendment to cut the funding or whether he or she still needs to be educated on how important high speed rail is to our economy because he or she voted YES to cut the funding last year.
Unfortunately, the Senate only voted to spend $1.2 billion and the two chambers ultimately agreed to spend $2.5 billion in FY2010.
We need to create jobs. High speed rail is one of the best ways to grow our economy, and we need to increase government spending on high speed rail every year so businesses can grow and prosper.
As Congress debates the FY2011 budget, tell your two US Senators and your Representative to spend $4 billion on high speed rail so our country continues to increase our investment in job-creating high speed rail.
