Making It Happen: Our Priorities

Illinois Fast Track Initiative

Fast trains linking Illinois's cities is a long talked about, but never implemented component of the State's transit network.  We have made progress in making fast trains a reality.

CREATE - The Chicago Rail Development Plan

The Chicago Region Environmental and Transportation Efficiency Program calls for a $1.5 billion program of railroad infrastructure improvements in the Chicago area. Three rail flyovers included in CREATE are along current Amtrak and potential high-speed routes. This would reduce delays and increase the throughput capacity of the network, thus opening additional slots that could be used by new high-speed trains.

Expand Chicago Union Station

Union Station is the State's most important transit asset.  In addition to its crucial local transit functions, it can become as busy as Midway Airport.

O'Hare Direct (Terminal 7)

O'Hare International Aiport's planned Terminal 7 can become a major transit hub, simultaneously linking residents to suburban job centers and the linking the region to the global economy.
