How you can help

The Core Projects

Several projects have such far-ranging benefits that they cannot be assigned to an individual corridor. These projects are:

- Chicago Union Station
Chicago's Union Station is the center of the entire Midwest network. Due to poor planning in the mid-sixties and late eighties, Union Station is unable to handle existing crowds, let alone coming growth. Several opportunities exist to expand the station and create a world-class link to the entire Midwest economy.

- O'Hare Terminal 7
Long distance planes, intercity trains, long distance buses, commuter rail, rapid transit and local buses are pointed towards O'Hare. An opportunity to connect them all, creating exciting new travel options, exists at the planned Terminal 7.

- CREATE
The Chicago Region Environmental and Transportation Efficiency Program is a cooperative effort of the City of Chicago, the State of Illinois and six major railroads to speed the movement of intercity freight shipments. CREATE includes three flyovers crucial to intercity trains.

- South of the Lake Reroute
A new, double track passenger route from Chicago to Porter, IN would speed service to eastern cities such as Cleveland, Detroit and Indianapolis. The construction of the Englewood Flyover, included in CREATE, is a key component of this project.
